What we assess

Six systems decide how a fire starts, spreads and ends

Detection & alarm

Coverage, siting, audibility and testing records, checked room by room against the building's risk profile.

Means of escape

Routes, final exits, signage and door hardware, timed as a person would actually experience them.

Suppression & first-aid firefighting

Sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels and extinguishers: presence, condition, certification and service history.

Electrical installations

Distribution boards, cable condition, temporary wiring and the hot-work practices that most fires start with.

Storage & housekeeping

Combustible storage, clearances, waste management and the everyday habits that decide how a fire behaves.

Fire safety management

Drills, training, maintenance contracts and responsibilities, so protections keep working between our visits.

Compliance & underwriting

One report that serves your insurer and your fire officer

Assessments follow recognised fire safety principles adapted to Nigerian building practice. The same document works in two directions: it gives underwriters the evidence behind your terms, and gives you a prioritised, dated action plan for what to fix first. Where a specific code applies to your building, we assess against it explicitly.

  • Hazards found, protections in place, gaps ranked by priority
  • Photographic evidence for every finding
  • Aligned with your insurance renewal cycle

How it runs

Assess, plan, verify

ASSESS

A structured site visit covering all six systems, with photographs and a walk-through of escape routes as people actually use them.

PLAN

A prioritised action plan: what to fix now, what to schedule, what to manage - each item costed in effort, not just described.

VERIFY

On annual reassessments we verify the previous plan was closed out, and the updated report carries your risk history forward.

Home fire safety assessments

Families, landlords and short-let operators: detection, escape routes, electrical and cooking hazards, checked and explained in plain language.

Common questions

Fire safety FAQs

What is a fire risk assessment?

A fire risk assessment is a systematic inspection of a building that identifies how a fire could start, who could be harmed and whether existing protections work. The output is a prioritised action plan covering detection, escape, suppression and management, which insurers increasingly ask to see.

How often should a fire safety assessment be repeated?

Most commercial buildings should be reassessed every year, and sooner after a change of use, refurbishment or a near miss. We recommend aligning the assessment with your insurance renewal so the report feeds directly into the terms you are offered.

Do insurers accept your fire assessment reports?

Yes. Reports are structured for underwriting: hazards found, protections in place, management arrangements and ranked recommendations. Brokers and underwriters use them to support terms, and clients use the same report to schedule risk-improvement work with clear priorities.

Do you assess homes as well as businesses?

We do. Our home fire safety assessment covers detection, escape routes, electrical and cooking hazards, and simple protection measures for families, landlords and short-let operators. For businesses we add regulatory advisory and a full fire safety management plan where required.

What standards do you work to?

Assessments follow recognised fire safety principles used by insurers and regulators, adapted to Nigerian building practice. Where a client must meet a specific code or insurer requirement, we assess against that benchmark and show exactly what is in place and what is missing.

When did your building last have an honest look?
