The life of a claim
Five stages, no surprises
Most disputes come from claims that stall in silence. Every Julimer adjustment moves through the same five stages, each with a named owner and a date.
01 - FIRST NOTICE
The claim is opened
Same-day acknowledgement of instruction, a named adjuster, and a clear list of what we need from every party.
02 - ATTENDANCE
Site attendance within 24-48 hours
Early attendance protects everyone's position: the scene is photographed, secured and recorded before it changes.
03 - CAUSE
Cause & circumstance investigation
How the loss happened and why, established from physical evidence, documentation and interviews - not assumption.
04 - QUANTUM
Quantum assessment
The value of the loss, built from site evidence, repair estimates, salvage and schedules, and presented transparently.
05 - SETTLEMENT
Settlement report & support
A structured report all parties can act on, followed by support through negotiation to the point everyone signs.
What we establish
Two questions decide every claim
QUESTION 01
What happened?
Cause and circumstance: origin, mechanism, and whether the peril is covered. Established from the physical evidence before it is disturbed, and documented so no one has to take anyone's word for it.
QUESTION 02
What is it worth?
Quantum: the measure of the loss, from repair estimates, reinstatement costs, salvage and business interruption schedules. Calculated openly, so negotiation starts from agreement rather than suspicion.

Common questions
Loss adjusting FAQs
- What does a loss adjuster do?
- A loss adjuster independently investigates an insured loss: establishing the cause, the extent of the damage and the value of the claim. Our reports give insurers and policyholders a shared, evidence-led picture of the loss, which is what makes fair and fast settlement possible.
- How quickly can you attend a loss?
- For fire, marine and property losses in Lagos we aim to attend within 24 to 48 hours, and same-day attendances are often possible. Across Nigeria and West Africa we confirm an attendance time at instruction, because early evidence is what protects everyone's position.
- Who appoints Julimer on a claim?
- Insurers, brokers and insureds all instruct us. Whoever appoints us, the method is the same: independent investigation, documented evidence and a structured report. That independence is why our findings hold up with all parties, including reinsurers.
- What is quantum assessment?
- Quantum is the monetary value of a claim. We assess it from site evidence, repair estimates, salvage and documentation, then present the calculation transparently in the report. A well-evidenced quantum is the difference between negotiation and argument.
- Which types of losses do you handle?
- Fire and explosion, marine and cargo losses, engineering breakdowns, property damage, burglary and business interruption claims. For policyholders who need help presenting their own claim, our related claims support service is free to start.
